The Education and Learning Ministry (ELM) at Elmwood exists to create an environment of disciples creating disciples. On Wednesday nights at Elmwood, there is something for everyone! Make Wednesday nights at Elmwood a part of your family’s weekly schedule, and be sure to invite someone to join you – either from within our Elmwood Family or a friend or neighbor!
Here’s what we have available for the Winter 2016 Quarter (December- February):
In this class, we will take an in-depth look at one of the most influential books of the Bible! Romans is an important, and sometimes confusing book which is a comprehensive piece on Christian faith. We will be especially focusing on the major themes of Romans as found in it’s introduction: Jesus as Messiah and mutual encouragement in the body of Christ.
Using tested materials from Good Sense, this personal finances class will focus on Biblical principles concerning the way we handle our money, along with real, hands-on training that can help you develop an individualized financial plan and put it into practice. There is a $24 fee for each person who attends the class (couples who choose to share a workbook can get in for the price of one).
Daily Spiritual Reading
Getting into a habit of reading the Bible and reading writings from our spiritual ancestors helps us to hear the whispers of God in our lives. Class participants will be given daily texts to read from the Bible and from the Renovare Collection of Devotional Classics (copies of which will be lent to participants for the quarter). Set some time aside each day to pray, digest the readings and listen to God, then share your experiences and discuss some of the readings each Wednesday night!
